Departure at 7:50 am from hotel to the headquarter of vulcanologic guides of Etna Nord in Piano Provenzana. The trekking tour will start at 9:30 along the dirt road that goes from Piano Provenzana to summit craters of the Volcano. After 1 km walk you wiill go across the fracture from 2002 eruption, 27th october, on the trail “Monte nero – Timpa Rossa”, situated on an area that many times has been interested by eruptive activity, among which the side eruptions of 10 september 1911 and 17 june 1923 that threatened the village of Linguaglossa. After visiting the hornitos and once reached Mt Ponte di Ferro, you will trek along the pyroclastic cones from the eruption of 2002 at an altitude of 2100 mt, then downwards on a sandy slope to admire the vegetation survived to eruptive activity. Overall distance is 5 km. Return to starting place and lunch. Return to hotel.
